Gaultier watch is ON at Target–scheduled to hit the shelves March 7

GaultierBut if you follow their designer partnerships closely, then you know there’s a chance some of those John Paul Gaultier pieces may hit the shelves a little early.  If you like them–and I love some of the pieces–grab them quickly, because I predict they’ll be gone at lightspeed.

The rumor first floated in September, was confirmed by Target in October, and as of the last few weeks, we’re finally getting a look at some of the pieces that’ll be featured.  The excellent Refinery29 blog leaked some pics last month, but they were quickly taken down after Target’s lawyers were in touch (seriously, Target? I love you–love you–but the leaked photos are a marketing goldmine, and you know it, so stop picking on the bloggers, ‘kay?).

Anyway, you can watch a video on Target’s website here that features several looks with the Gaultier pieces, but I think you may do well to assemble your own looks from what appear to be some really nice pieces.

The trench is a classic, and a must for anyone’s wardrobe, and there’s at least one leather jacket in the lineup–at a not-so-friendly Target price of $199, so I’ll offer a grumble about that–that also looks great.

There are some perfect shirtdresses, and a sleeveless navy and white striped tie-at-the-waist tee that I’m dying to pick up to pair this spring with a pair of wide-legged white linen pants I have.

The most recent designer showcased at Target, the sister team Rodarte, created some truly beautiful pieces, some of which are still on the racks (if you’re lucky).  It looks as if Gaultier’s line offers similar quality and style, so keep an eye peeled when they show up in the next couple of weeks.

The Giada line may not be a huge success (in my opinion, anyway), but this Gaultier line looks Fa-a-a-a-a-bu-LESS.  Love!
